The 1999 season was one to forget if you are a Hornets fan. The season started out on
a bad note when Anthony Mason tore his biceps muscle and was out for the strike-shortened
year. After beginning the season 2-8 coach Dave Cowens quit on
the team showing the true coward that he is. Glen Rice was traded for Eddie Jones and
Elden Campbell which has thus far worked out tremendously for the Hornets. Although
it took a while for the team to gel, the Hornets finally started to show their talent and won
many games down the backstretch of the 1999 abbreviated season. The Hornets won
14 of their last 18 games and only missed the playoffs by a single game behind the
Knickerbockers of New York City. The Knickerbockers went on to the finals.
